Dr Daniel Hart was born in Nairobi, Kenya and raised in both Kenya and Ithaca, NY.
While an undergraduate at Cornell, Dr Hart experienced first hand the health disparities in rural Kenya in the face of various human pressures on the natural ecosystems. It became clear that the health of the environment and the health of humans were closely intertwined.
Dr Hart went on to pursue a dual MD/MPH degree with a concentration in Global Health at Case Western Reserve University. He then completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at Yale University with a concentration in Global Public Health. Dr Hart then graduated from the International Emergency Medicine Fellowship at Hennepin County Medical Center.
During his fellowship, Dr Hart focused his efforts on Kenya, working to analyze and strengthen the Emergency Public Health System. It was during this fellowship that the seeds were planted for what would become Sirai Health.
The name Sirai is derived from the local Masai word for the Euphorbia Tree, which in turn is named for the Greek physician Euphorbus.
